An afternoon at Potomac Point Vineyard
I took a journey to Stafford, VA to Potomac Point Vineyard on an unusually 50 degree day in February. I had been wanting to visit the vineyard all summer and once I saw they were offering heated tents I knew I had to go.
The tents are nestled on a hill looking over the vineyard. Each tent has a theme, ours was “Cloud Wine” decorated with rose gold and white accent pillows, cute floral arrangements, and most importantly a heater!
Whenever I visit a new vineyard I expect a menu with varying tastings or flight options. My first flight was the “Simply Sippers”, a mix of white, rosé, and fruity wines: 8 one ounce pours for $14. I enjoyed the Petit Manseng, Moscato, and Dolce Rubus. My second flight was the “Really Reserve”, a mix of white and red wines for $18.
The most pleasant surprise of the afternoon, the small plates menu. I ordered the lamb meatballs, spinach & artichoke dip, roasted brussel sprouts, and crab dip. The small plates were delicious and I ended up ordering another order of the lamb meatballs and crab dip! I typically do not expect much from food selections at vineyards but I truly was impressed.
Everything we ordered arrived in a timely manner properly chilled and heated. Our waiter Jonathan was attentive and helpful and adjusted the heater temperature for me when it got a little too toasty! I really enjoyed myself and so did my friends! It is a must visit on my local finds and I will be returning.
The tents are available for rent for two hours and 45 minute blocks on weekends for a rental fee of $150 and a $200 food and beverage minimum. With a group of 4-8 people this is easy to split but if that is not quite in your budget they offer indoor and outdoor seating on their patio and picnic areas as well.
